A visitor visa is the most standard visa that allows initial entry into Oman. It is required that all foreigners obtain a valid entry visa to enter Oman, unless they are from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Visitor visas are offered in various forms, including business, tourist, and family visas. In any case, you are not allowed to do business with any type of this visa. Staying in Oman with this visa is limited to one month, with the exception of the family visit visa, which allows to stay up to three months.

This visa is the same as visitor visa and issued to foreigners who enter Oman for scientific research. it must be requested by local specialized authorities.

The Scientific Research Visa allows the holders to stay in Oman for up to three months and may be extended for another two months.

Employers must obtain a work visa for any foreign employee aged 21 years or older to enter Oman.

A work visa requires a work permit from the employer’s Ministry of Labor. The duration of the work visa is limited to two years from the date of entry. Employees with work visas must not leave Oman for more than six months.

This visa is granted to the spouse of a foreign employee and children under the age of 21. The approval process requires a certificate from the Ministry of Interior to confirm the marriage status.

The granting of family visas is at the discretion of the Ministry of Interior. When the employee’s residence permit expires, the family visa expires.
